The national Environmental Justice For All Tour is coming to Louisville!
All events are free and open to the public
Friday, September 29, 2006
3:30 PM – 8:00 PM
The Friday event will focus on poor air quality and the chemical insecurity of residents living in neighborhoods adjacent to Rubbertown chemical facilities. Fridays’ events will begin with the national Environmental Justice for All tour bus arriving in Louisville shortly before a brief press conference that will be held at 3:30 PM. Following the press conference, residents will share stories about how Rubbertown has directly affected their lives. The evening will continue with well-known chemical security expert Fred Millar, who will present solutions to the risk of toxic chemicals stored in railcars near schools and in our neighborhoods. The evening will end with a rally for Environmental Justice and plenty of food to go around! All Friday events will be held at the Mount Vernon Missionary Baptist Church located at 3640 Cane Run Road (right up the street from the old Big A shopping center).
Saturday, September 30, 2006
11:00 AM – 3:00 PM
Saturdays’ focus will be on educating residents by way of door-to-door canvassing. Volunteers are needed to help distribute materials within the community. Canvassers’ training will be held from 11AM to 12 noon followed by lunch. Then we’re off into the community with materials that will educate and help residents fight for the health and safety of their families.
Sunday, October 1, 2006
